Cal. Pen. Code § 266(b)

Compelling an illicit relationship

Every person who takes any other person unlawfully, and against his or her will, and by force, menace, or duress, compels him or her to live with such person in an illicit relation, against his or her consent, or to so live with any other person, is punishable by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.

Amendment History:

1975 Amendment:

(1) Substituted “other” for “female” after “takes any”; (2) added “his or” after “against” wherever it appears; (3) added “him or” after “compels”; and (4) substituted “such person” for “him” before “in an illicit relation”.

1976 Amendment:

Deleted “not less than two nor more than four years” after “state prison”.

2011 Amendment:

Substituted “pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170” for “in the state prison”.
